Job description

Join to apply for the Traveling Pipefitter role at Robinson Construction Company.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinate with the job site Superintendent to configure pipe system layout.
  2. Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications using appropriate tools.
  3. Lay out full-scale drawings of pipe systems based on blueprints.
  4. Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints.
  5. Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading.
  6. Inspect, examine, or test installed systems using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, or other methods.
  7. Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
  8. Attach pipes to structures using brackets, clamps, or welding equipment.
  9. Maintain pipe systems and related equipment using hand or power tools.
  10. Select appropriate pipe sizes and materials as per specifications.
  11. Cut or bore holes in structures for pipe installation.
  12. Install automatic controls to regulate pipe systems.
  13. Shut off gases or liquids from pipe sections using valves.
  14. Replace worn components and inspect work sites for safety.
  15. Install fixtures to reduce water or energy consumption and support alternative energy systems.
  16. Check work and perform repairs as needed.
  17. Follow safety policies and foster a safe workplace environment.

Additional responsibilities include ordering materials, training others, and performing various related duties.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least four years of Journeyman Pipefitting experience.
  • Industrial machine licenses and certifications (e.g., OSHA 10, MSHA, TWIC) preferred.

Knowledge and skills required include understanding of piping systems, tools, materials, engineering principles, and effective communication. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, troubleshoot mechanical systems, and visualize layouts is essential.

Physical requirements involve manual dexterity, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.

Work conditions may expose employees to fumes, noise, mechanical parts, and weather extremes. The schedule typically involves Monday through Friday, with potential overtime, shift work, and holiday/weekend duties.

Tools required include hand tools such as levels, clamps, wrenches, hammers, and gauges.
