GENERAL FUNCTION:

The basic function of the Optician is to attract and retain patients by delivering an exceptional patient experience, foster patient retention, and promote outstanding doctor satisfaction.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Drive profitable store sales by fostering a retail selling culture through role-playing and effective retail sales skills.
2. Develop professional relationships with other associates and Doctors.
3. Fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions, and fit and adapt lenses and frames, including:

• Utilizing optical prescriptions to meet patient visual requirements.
• Recommending specific lenses and coatings based on patient needs.
• Assisting patients in selecting frames and coordinating them with prescriptions and needs.
• Performing optical measurements.
• Ensuring a quality patient experience with correct pricing, POS entry, and delivery time quotes.
• Providing guidance on Managed Vision Care.
• Assisting in merchandising according to the Planogram and standards.
• Supporting marketing programs, signage, and promotions.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Ability to sell effectively and be accountable for sales results.
• Experience with retail or customer service.
• Ability to develop creative solutions and communicate enthusiastically.
• Fostering positive relationships with colleagues and doctors.
• Attention to detail and follow-up skills.
• Ability to manage priorities flexibly.
• Willingness to take calculated risks.
• Experience with personal computers preferred.
• State licensure or certification by a recognized opticianry association.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 1-2 years retail experience preferred.
