Job summary

Kurz Industrial Solutions, Inc is seeking a Traveling On-site Millwright / Technician Supervisor to lead field teams performing installation, removal, inspection, cleaning, and alignment of rotating equipment at customer sites and in our repair facilities. You will supervise, train, and mentor technicians while ensuring safety and high-quality workmanship.

Required: high school diploma, 2–3 years of technician experience, mechanical aptitude, and ability to travel.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience as a technician or related education preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong understanding of tools, equipment, and industrial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Removal, disassembly, reassembly and installation of motors, pumps, generators, and other rotating equipment in the field.
  • Support rigging, lifting, and positioning of equipment.
  • Clean and prepare components and job sites using appropriate methods.
  • Shaft laser alignment, installation, and removal of equipment.
  • Safely transport tools, parts, and materials to and from job sites.
  • Document job details and provide reports for work completed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Traveling On-site Millwright / Technician Supervisor
Overview and Mission

Role Mission

The On-Site Service Supervisor will supervise, lead and train technicians doing support installation, removal, inspection, cleaning, and transportation of rotating apparatus and related electro-mechanical equipment at customer sites and at our repair facilities.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Removal, disassembly, reassembly and installation of motors, pumps, generators, new equipment and other rotating equipment in the field.
  • Support rigging, lifting, and positioning of equipment using proper equipment and safety procedures.
  • Clean and prepare components and job sites using appropriate methods (Dry ice cleaning, solvents, hand tools, etc.).
  • Shaft laser alignment, installation, and removal of equipment.
  • Safely transport tools, parts, and materials to and from job sites.
  • Observe and follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment both on-site and in company vehicles.
  • Follow all company and customer site policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and issues.
  • Document job details and provide reports for work completed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience working as a technician or related education preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong understanding of tools, equipment, and industrial environments.
  • Willingness to learn rotating apparatus and field service practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.
  • Ability to work as a team to get the job done.
  • Willing to work overtime as required by job.
  • Valid driver’s license and be able to drive company vehicles.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Electrical knowledge is a plus
Secondary Functions
  • Assist other shop departments / shops with skilled or non-skilled duties as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
  • Interact with customers on a regular basis.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to heat, cold, noise, and confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working at heights or in physically demanding conditions when required.
  • Customer sites varying from 1000’ Iron Ore Ships, Paper mills, Hydro Generating Stations, Coal Fired and Hydro Electric Power Plants, Clean Water and Wastewater Departments, various manufacturing facilities located throughout WI, MN, MI & IL areas.
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours or weekends as needed.
