Job summary

Applicants will engage in hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair of diverse electrical systems while maintaining tools and equipment and ensuring safety compliance on site.

Qualifications

• At least two years of commercial electrical experience.
• Apprentice electricians work under the observation of a journeyman-level electrician; duties expand as skills improve.
• Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
• Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
• Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace worn parts, and reassemble using hand tools.
• Thread conduit ends and fabricate conduit support brackets with hand tools.
• Examine units for loose connections and tighten using hand tools.
• Drill holes and pull wires; clean work area and wash parts.
• Dig trenches or holes for conduit installation.
• Strip insulation and attach wires to terminals for soldering.
• Trace short circuits using a test meter.
• Install ground rods using a manual post driver.
• Break up concrete to facilitate installation or repair.
• Erect system components and rig scaffolds and shoring.
• Transport tools and materials to site by hand or with equipment.
• Assemble controllers and panels with drills, presses, and punches.
• Position equipment using hoists and lines.
• Requisition materials using warehouse forms.
