Elementary School - Traveling Music Teacher - Bridgeway, Parkwood, and Willow Brook (55% FTE) - 2025-2026 School Year (One-Year Position)

Position Purpose

To identify, promote and develop each student's talents in vocal and instrumental musical expression.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and administers music education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
  • Develops balanced music program and lessons and organizes instructional time so that students have adequate time for performance preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student musical learning and progress and modifies instructional methods to fit the individual needs of students.
  • Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature as appropriate.
  • Plans, coordinates rehearsals for and directs students in musical programs/performances outside of the classroom.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in the educational field by attending professional development, workshops, or department/district meetings, and/or by conducting research.
  • Keeps accurate and complete records regarding grading and attendance as required by district/building procedures/policies.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Ensures that student behavior conforms to school/district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student conduct needed to achieve an effective learning environment.
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members, participates in faculty meetings, and attends professional development.
  • Selects appropriate learning materials/instructional tools consistent with district curriculum.

Additional Duties:

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).

Travel Requirements

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
    • Additional FTE will be implemented for travel time between schools.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate instruction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Qualifications

  • Missouri Vocal Music K-12 certification.

Education

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree from an accredited college or university.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position open until filled

Candidates that have signed a contract for the 2025-26 school year need to check with their district prior to applying to ensure they can be released from their contract if they are recommended for the position.
