Position Overview:

The Mechanical Superintendent oversees the daily mechanical construction activities at the work site, including scheduling of workers, delivery of equipment and materials, and project progress. The supervisor should be familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures in the specified discipline. Must be able to read prints and do take-offs for piping, steel, and civil jobs. Ability to schedule manpower and handle emergency work with little to no notice. Manage foremen in the field and track job progress. Lead the team in installation, assembly, dismantlement, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Strong knowledge of conveyors and pumps is required. Candidate must be able to set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment safely. Service and repair various machines within the industrial setting to ensure continuous plant operation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervise daily pipe fitting, welding, and light mechanical/rigging activities.
  • Assess workforce, material, tools, and equipment needs; arrange for these components to support the project.
  • Analyze productivity trends and adjust work activities to optimize production.
  • Review cost reports and projections; manage job costs within the contract budget.
  • Develop solutions for routine problems using defined processes and experience.
  • Enforce jobsite safety to comply with OSHA regulations and the company's safety program.
  • Work in various weather conditions.
  • Possess knowledge and experience to layout and fit pipe.
  • Weld various metals using SMAW and GTAW processes.
  • Lay out projects and execute effectively.
  • Inspect angles and gap allowances using precision measuring instruments.
  • Work at above ground elevations with harness and protective equipment.
  • Perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours daily.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of basic tools and their applications.

  • Ability to follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Ability to work at heights while wearing safety harnesses.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Excellent communication skills.
