Traveling Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Charleston, SC area

Salary: $27-$33 per hour

Summary

The Traveling Maintenance Supervisor will assist in maintenance operations across NHE managed communities, including staff recruitment, training, vendor negotiations, and maintaining excellent customer service. The role involves regular travel, including overnight stays, and may require weekend and holiday work.

I. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Support maintenance staff and fill in at properties lacking coverage or with ongoing projects.
2. Coordinate with management to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
3. Identify, prioritize, and budget for projects.
4. Execute capital projects as directed.
5. Support and advise site staff and management on team development and promotions.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

II. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Financial planning and budgeting knowledge.
• Understanding of contract processes, bidding, and vendor negotiations.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficiency with maintenance tools and equipment.
• Experience with YARDI Voyager and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to multitask and maintain confidentiality.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

Assist current site staff in managing employees upon request.

IV. Qualifications

• Extensive multi-site maintenance experience.
• EPA Type I and II technician certification.
• Certified Pool Operator.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Knowledge of apartment laws, regulations, and financial management.

V. Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent; prior leadership in maintenance roles.

VI. Mathematical/Reasoning Ability

Ability to generate reports, handle correspondence, and perform basic math. Proficient in reading and writing in English.

VII. Physical Demands

• Manual dexterity, physical activity including lifting up to 50+ pounds, climbing, and outdoor work.
• Use of safety equipment and exposure to environmental hazards.

VIII. Working Conditions

Primarily outdoor/indoor work at NHE properties with moderate noise levels.
