Job summary

Wachter, Inc. is hiring a Traveling Technician to support large distribution center installations with 50-60 hour weeks and extensive travel.

You will install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber cabling, lead small crews, and ensure job sites meet safety and quality standards. The role offers competitive pay based on experience, paid weekly, per-diem when travel is overnight, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k).

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of low-voltage or data cabling experience.
• Strong Cat6 and fiber termination and testing skills.
• Experience with paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling.
• Ability to read prints and work with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable working at height and in large warehouse environments.
• Ability to work independently or support small crews.
• Proficient with smartphones, email, and basic spreadsheets.
• Basic telecommunications tools, PPE, and reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work 50-60 hour weeks.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber cabling (single-mode and multi-mode).
• Perform paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling.
• Lead and support small crews of 2-4 technicians as a working lead when assigned.
• Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, and cable management.
• Install cable pathways including J-hooks, ladder rack, innerduct, and tray.
• Operate boom and scissor lifts (40 ft work).
• Troubleshoot cabling and system issues.
• Ensure cables are neatly dressed, labeled, and installed per standards.
• Provide daily progress updates to the Lead or Foreman.
• Follow all safety, quality, and site requirements.
