Job summary

Wachter is seeking a Traveling Technician to support large distribution centers nationwide. The role involves coordinating daily tasks with the Foreman, installing and testing Cat6 and fiber cabling, and leading small crews on major builds.

Enthusiastic travel and strong on-site problem solving are essential. Candidates should have 2+ years of leadership experience and solid low-voltage cabling skills, with the ability to read prints and work independently in demanding environments.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience leading technicians
  • 2–5+ years of low-voltage or data cabling experience
  • Strong Cat6 and fiber termination and testing skills
  • Experience with paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling
  • Ability to read prints and work with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily tasks with the Foreman and oversee crews of 2–4 technicians
  • Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber cabling (single-mode and multi-mode)
  • Install, terminate, and test paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling
  • Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, and cable management
  • Operate 40+ ft lifts and work at height in large warehouse environments
  • Provide daily progress updates to Lead or Foreman
  • Follow all safety, quality, and site requirements
  • Travel extensively and work 50–60 hours per week

We’re looking for a hard-working Technician to coordinate daily tasks with the Foreman, operate 40ft+ lifts, and keep our installations on track.   • Proficient with smartphones, email, and basic spreadsheets
  • Basic telecommunications tools, PPE, and reliable transportation
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work 50–60 hour weeks
  • Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber (single-mode and multi-mode) cabling
  • Perform paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling
  • Lead and support small crews of 2–4 technicians as a working lead when assigned
  • Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, and cable management
  • Install cable pathways including J-hooks, ladder rack, innerduct, and tray
  • Operate boom and scissor lifts (40+ ft work)
  • Troubleshoot cabling and system issues
  • Ensure cables are neatly dressed, labeled, and installed per standards
  • Provide daily progress updates to the Lead or Foreman
  • Follow all safety, quality, and site requirements
