What you’ll do as a Traveling Laborer

• Perform general construction work under the direction of Foreman/Supervisor
• Install and maintain underground fiber optic and other telecommunications cabling service lines
• Operate or work around various types of construction equipment and machinery
• Hand dig using shovel and/or mechanical tools
• Maintain visual and audible contact with crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination
• Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies
• Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers, and flagging traffic when necessary

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
• Basic knowledge of and ability to safely use hand tools and equipment
• Effective communication skills with customers and team members
• Regular and timely attendance
• Ability to work overtime, after hours, weekends, and be on-call for emergencies
• Adherence to OSHA and FMCSA/DOT regulations
• Extended travel throughout the Telcom footprint is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of operating utility trucks and equipment safely
• Unrestricted Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement (higher wages for CDL holders)

Physical Requirements:

• Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
• Lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed
• Stand, crouch, sit, bend, handle or feel with hands, reach high and low, while wearing safety gear
• Work in adverse weather conditions and long driving/sitting periods

Pay Range: $21 - $26 / Hr
