Job summary

Central Southern Construction is seeking an experienced Traveling Heavy Haul CDL Driver to support our heavy civil projects across Texas. This role travels during the week and returns home on weekends.

You will load, secure, transport, and unload equipment using a lowboy trailer, coordinate moves with project teams, and ensure DOT compliance and safe operation. A valid Class A CDL with a clean record is required, and prior heavy haul and lowboy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 3 years of heavy haul transportation experience.
• Previous lowboy hauling experience is required.
• Experience transporting heavy construction equipment.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, oversized load requirements, and cargo securement.
• Ability to safely load and unload heavy equipment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass a pre employment drug screen, background check, and MVR review.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport heavy construction equipment between multiple project sites throughout Texas using a lowboy trailer.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, rollers, motor graders, pavers, milling machines, and other heavy machinery.
• Coordinate equipment moves with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
• Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with DOT regulations and oversized load requirements.
• Conduct pre trip, post trip, and daily vehicle inspections.
• Maintain driver logs, inspection reports, and transportation documentation.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and promptly report mechanical issues.
• Assist with loading and unloading equipment when needed.
• Follow all company safety policies and DOT regulations.
• Represent Central Southern Construction professionally while interacting with customers, vendors, and the public.

Traveling Heavy Haul CDL Driver

Location: Texas (Travel Required)

Central Southern Construction is seeking an experienced Traveling Heavy Haul CDL Driver to support our heavy civil construction projects throughout Texas. This position is responsible for safely transporting heavy construction equipment between multiple project sites using a lowboy trailer. Drivers typically travel during the week and return home on weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in heavy civil construction.
• Experience transporting asphalt paving or roadway construction equipment.
• Experience obtaining or traveling with oversized load permits.
• Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment.
• TWIC card is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely climb on and off trucks and equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout Texas and occasionally to neighboring states as needed.

Travel

This is a traveling position supporting multiple projects throughout Texas. Drivers should expect to travel during the workweek and typically return home on weekends. Company paid lodging and travel accommodations are provided when overnight travel is required.
