Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Central Florida is seeking an Operator (Heavy Equipment) to operate heavy gear such as backhoes, excavators, dozers, and loaders for foundation work, site grading and pipe laying.

Occasional travel across NE Florida is required, with potential crane operator duties in Jacksonville. The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma, on-the-job training, and relevant certifications as needed.

Qualifications

• Prefer High School diploma and on-the-job training.
• Certification as required by OSHA or Manufacturer for specific pieces of equipment.
• Prefer experience working in the construction industry.
• Prefer valid Driver’s license. This position will required travel throughout the NE Florida area.
• Prefer to have rigging training. Must have transportation to get to job site.
• Preferred Skills: High School diploma and on-the-job training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, material handlers, excavators, dozers and loaders for foundation excavation, site grading, material placement and pipe laying.
