Job summary

SST Direct is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to support renewable-energy projects across the Southeast. The role involves 100% travel, on-site maintenance, and repairs at solar and battery storage sites using a company truck.

You’ll diagnose diesel equipment, manage parts, and ensure timely, safe project readiness. Required are 5+ years of diesel tech experience, a clean MVR, and ability to obtain Class A CDL within a year.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician with strong mechanical knowledge.
• Willingness to travel across multiple projects in several states.
• Unrestricted driver's license with clean MVR; DOT compliance knowledge.
• Possession or ability to obtain Class A CDL within 12 months may be required.

Responsibilities

• Travel to solar and battery storage sites in the Southeast to perform on-site maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnose and repair diesel-powered equipment, hydraulics, and heavy machinery.
• Operate and inspect vehicles to identify faults and determine repairs.
• Use diagnostic equipment and manuals to troubleshoot engines and components.
• Dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment with proper safety procedures.
• Research and organize parts inventory to minimize downtime on sites.
• Test repaired equipment to verify performance and safety.
• Support daily inspections and ensure equipment is turnkey for next assignment.
• Maintain a safe field environment and participate in continuous improvement.
