Job summary

SST Direct seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic for 100% travel across the Southeast U.S. in a company truck, performing on-site maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered equipment at solar and battery storage sites.

diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems using diagnostic tools, maintain inventories, and ensure safety and FMCSA/DOT compliance. A minimum of 5 years’ experience and a clean driving record are required; CDL may be needed within 12 months.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician experience.
• Knowledge of solar project equipment.
• Unrestricted driver’s license and clean MVR.
• DOT Medical Card required or obtainable.
• Proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Travel to project sites across the Southeast U.S. in a company truck for on-site maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnose and repair diesel-powered equipment, hydraulic systems, trucks, and heavy machinery at renewable-energy sites.
• Operate and inspect vehicles to identify faults and determine necessary repairs.
• Use diagnostic tools, calibration devices, and testing equipment for troubleshooting.
• Disassemble and repair heavy equipment with safe lifting procedures.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and read manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Maintain parts inventory to minimize downtime and support field repairs.
• Test repaired equipment for safety, reliability, and compliance.
• Assist operators with daily inspections and ensure turnkey readiness for next assignment.
• Maintain a safe field environment and participate in continuous improvement.
