Job summary

Summit Line Construction is seeking a Traveling GPS & Lube Technician to install and maintain GPS tracking systems and perform routine lubrication on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment. You’ll diagnose hardware issues, update firmware, and provide on-site training to field personnel.

This role requires extensive travel across regions and strict safety practices. You will also handle preventive maintenance, document service activities, and ensure reliable fleet visibility while supporting

Qualifications

• Experience with GPS systems, vehicle electronics, or telematics preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures.
• Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Install GPS tracking devices on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Test and verify proper post-install GPS functionality.
• Diagnose and repair GPS hardware and connectivity issues in the field.
• Perform firmware updates and system calibrations as needed.
• Provide training to field personnel on GPS usage.
• Perform routine lubrication and preventive maintenance on fleet equipment.
• Check fluid levels, filters, and grease points on machinery.
• Maintain service records and logs for maintenance activities.
• Identify and report potential mechanical issues during service.
• Travel to multiple locations to perform on-site service.
• Manage inventory of GPS units, tools, lubricants, and supplies.
• Communicate with fleet management and operations teams.
