Role Summary

The General Superintendent will develop and execute project plans, oversee all aspects of complex projects, manage teams, plan construction sequencing, and ensure project goals are met. All activities will support JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

Superintendent Family - Core

  • Lead safety culture and create awareness for an injury-free environment, investigating incidents and retraining staff as needed.
  • Manage subcontractors and organize overall job workflow.
  • Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs like Safety, Quality, and EEOC for small or large projects.
  • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
  • Coordinate project site care, custody, and control.
  • Lead meetings including daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
  • Participate in project meetings and manage project schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Track and monitor project budgets and costs using management systems.
  • Communicate key project information to all stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and update drawings and logs.
  • Approve unit cost information and complete daily and tracking reports.
  • Evaluate progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • Manage material and equipment needs.
  • Support procurement and approval processes.
  • Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment.
  • Manage timecard approvals for accurate reporting.
  • Ensure quality compliance and supervise closeout activities.
  • Understand project pursuit processes and participate in pre-planning.
  • Partner with field leadership for staffing and project changes.
  • Participate in negotiations and project reviews.
  • Understand contractual terms and conditions.
  • Identify and recruit top talent.
  • Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring policies are implemented positively.

  • Manage large, complex projects from planning to completion.
  • Oversee multiple projects and teams.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and develop training content.
  • Deliver leadership messages effectively internally and externally.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
  • Understanding of construction management fundamentals and project processes.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate.
  • Knowledge of trades, self-perform work, and labor productivity.
  • Budget management and profitability skills.
  • Layout, crane flagging, rigging, and productivity knowledge.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; relevant experience considered.
Experience
  • 12+ years construction experience.
  • 10+ years field supervision experience.
  • Experience leading $75M+ aviation projects (required).
  • Experience with Lean principles (preferred).
Working Environment
  • Valid driver’s license required.
