About

The Field Service Technician is responsible for delivering exceptional technical service and support, ensuring the smooth operation of critical weapon and metal detection systems. This role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment while providing direct customer support at high‑traffic locations such as schools, stadiums, government buildings, and other public and private sector facilities. You will ensure all service documentation is accurate and thorough, understanding that your work is crucial to the safety of those who depend on these systems.

Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance as required.
  • Test and verify the functionality of installed equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Provide exceptional customer support, with thorough and accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical experts to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and diagnose technical problems effectively.
  • Set up and troubleshoot basic network connections, including assigning IP addresses and subnets.

Qualifications

Essential Job Knowledge

  • Two‑year technical degree, apprenticeship program, or equivalent in a technical or military field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in electrical, electronic, and mechanical fields.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Willingness to travel for the vast majority of work.
  • Ability to fly on commercial airlines.
  • Ability to follow maps and verbal driving directions.
  • Ability to drive up to a 26‑ft box truck.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Travel

Travel is required 90% of the time. Must be available to CONUS, OCONUS, and internationally. Overnight travel is required.

Working Conditions

The work environment for this position is dynamic and varies by assignment. Field Technicians operate in warehouses, offices, outdoor environments, and prison facilities, each with its unique conditions and requirements. Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Noise levels can be loud. Environmental conditions may include heat, cold, rain, snow, or high humidity. In prison settings, employees must adhere to the specific rules and regulations of the facility.

Employees may use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Duties may include working at a desk, using a computer, and communicating via phone or in person. Occasional physical activities include standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and using hand tools or small power tools.

Employees must occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 70 pounds. The physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle tools or equipment, reach with arms, climb, and hear or speak as needed.
