BGIS in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Traveling Facility Maintenance Technician (Mobile General Skilled Technician).

Working from a fully equipped service vehicle, you will perform general repairs, small projects, and preventive maintenance across client sites to keep facilities operating efficiently. You will diagnose and repair building systems, provide light HVAC and plumbing support to specialty techs, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in general repairs in commercial settings.
• Comfort using mobile devices for work orders.

Responsibilities

• Hourly Rate: $30–$34/hour ($62,400–$70,720 annually)
• On-Call Pay: $150 per scheduled on-call shift

Your Role as a Traveling Facility Maintenance Technician

As a Traveling Facility Maintenance Technician (Mobile General Skilled Technician), you’ll be the cornerstone of property maintenance, ensuring our clients’ facilities operate flawlessly. Working from a fully equipped service vehicle, you’ll tackle general repairs, small projects, and preventive maintenance programs, saving clients from costly disruptions. Your expertise will shine as you troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various building systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs and small service projects (e.g., walls, windows, doors)
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with appliances and building systems
• Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance
• Provide minor HVAC and plumbing support to trade-specific technicians
• Engage with clients to confirm service requests and ensure satisfaction
• Adhere to safety standards and building regulations

Skills & Expertise

• Proficient with power tools (e.g., drills, saws)
• Ability to provide accurate repair estimates
• Commitment to safety best practices

Qualifications

• Proficiency with tools and equipment (e.g., ladders)
• Professional, courteous, and customer-focused demeanor
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read blueprints, plans, and diagrams
• Budget management experience
• Comfort using mobile devices (cellphones, tablets) for work orders
• Demonstrated experience in general repairs (painting, carpentry, plumbing) in commercial settings
• High school diploma or GED required
• Trade school education in building-related fields preferred
• Relevant training certifications are a plus
