Job summary

Poweredbysenergy in Houston, Texas, is seeking a Field Designer/Traveling Utility Tech to design and plan power distribution facilities. 100% travel will be required as you support field-based project design activities, reporting to our Houston office.

The role emphasizes understanding utility electrical systems and applying design standards for overhead and underground distribution, with training provided if needed. Strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

• Preferred: two-year technical certificate or degree.
• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: design, operation, construction, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV–35 kV).
• Exposure to utility GIS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review field design notes and transfer to project drawings and material lists.
• Perform standard computation and analysis.
• Create plan and profile design drawings in AutoCAD.
• Apply design standards for overhead and underground distribution projects.
• Compile design packages for construction using design software and data management tools.
• Perform quality reviews of project deliverables.
