Role Overview

The primary role of the Dental Assistant is to support the success of the clinicians through effective delivery of the Perfect Patient Experience (PPE), creating a Patient for Life (PFL). Dental assistants perform patient care, office, and laboratory duties, preparing patients and assisting dental professionals in providing treatment.

Specialty Dental Assistants

If assigned within specialties such as Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, or Pediatric dentistry, additional training may be required.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform functions according to state regulations for Dental Auxiliaries.
  2. Participate actively in PPE, focusing on patient needs and concerns.
  3. Escort patients and coordinate with team members.
  4. Maintain a clean, sterile environment and sterilize instruments.
  5. Prepare patients and assist the dentist during procedures.
  6. Complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures efficiently.
  7. Prepare tray setups and maintain supplies.
  8. Instruct patients on oral health care and record charting.
  9. Support patient care with documentation and record management.
  10. Ensure equipment and supplies are maintained and available.
  11. Utilize and operate dental technology effectively.
  12. Participate in team meetings and uphold company culture and policies.
  13. Support the implementation of the Perfect Patient Experience process.
  14. Maintain professional appearance and adhere to regulatory standards.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or GED; relevant training/certification as mandated by state.
  2. Valid licenses and certifications as required.
  3. For Specialty Assistants: valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, or alternative means for travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One-year certificate from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
