Role Overview

The primary role of the Dental Assistant is to support clinicians in delivering the Perfect Patient Experience (PPE) and creating Patients for Life (PFL). Dental assistants perform patient care, office, and laboratory duties, including preparing patients for examinations and assisting with treatments. They must work effectively with staff, patients, and front office personnel, demonstrating active listening, reliability, and constructive problem-solving.

Specialty Dental Assistants

If assigned within specialties such as Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, or Pediatric Dentistry, additional training may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties according to state regulations for Dental Auxiliaries.
  • Participate actively in PPE, focusing on patient needs and concerns.
  • Escort and introduce patients to team members.
  • Coordinate with front and back office teams for efficient scheduling.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile environment.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatory areas per infection control guidelines.
  • Prepare patients and assist dentists during procedures.
  • Complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures efficiently.
  • Prepare tray setups and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Keep patients' mouths dry and clear during procedures.
  • Instruct patients on postoperative and oral health care.
  • Record patient charts and clinician notes accurately.
  • Support patient care with proper documentation and treatment records.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and supply inventory.
  • Utilize and demonstrate operation of dental technology.
  • Participate in team meetings and uphold company culture and standards.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Comply with all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; required state-specific training or certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance for specialty roles, with reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One-year certificate from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
