Job summary

Merchco Services, Inc. is seeking a Retail Construction Tradesman to join our nationwide installation teams. You will read blueprints, install cabinetry and millwork, and coordinate with Project Leads to deliver high-quality store remodels on time.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of carpentry experience, be comfortable with travel across the country, and possess strong tool skills. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of carpentry experience.
• Experience reading blueprints to determine fixture placement.
• Practical knowledge and use of hand and power tools.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly valued.
• Strong communication on the jobsite to support safety, coordination, and quality.
• Willing to travel nationwide; reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
• Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and climbing ladders.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints to determine placement of fixtures and millwork.
• Install cabinetry, millwork, and fixtures; perform drywall mudding and taping.
• Erect metal studs; install tile, paint, and flooring as required.
• Install signage and fixtures; ensure craftsmanship meets safety standards.
• Collaborate with Project Leads and other trades to meet schedules.

Experience with store remodels, store setup crews, big box retail experience and /or new store openings is highly desired. The average schedule allows you to work 8-10 hour days (may require overtime). Qualifying travel expenses are reimbursed. All employees will be required to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Your Role

As a Retail Construction Tradesman, you will collaborate with Project Leads and other trades to ensure all construction tasks meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and safety. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reading blueprints to determine placement of fixtures, assembly/installation of cabinetry and millwork, metal stud framing, Install, mudding and taping of drywall, painting, repairing/installing floor tile, fixture assembly/installation, signage, etc. Carpenters play a critical part in transforming retail spaces, ensuring that all installations are completed on time and contribute to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the store.

Requirements

• Must have at least 2 years of carpentry experience.
• Experience with hang/finish drywall (level 4 finish), ceiling grid, acoustical ceiling tile, painting, metal framing, trim, set cabinets, cove base, flooring (VCT/LVT/carpet tile, blueprints)
• Willing to travel Nationwide
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and willing to drive up to 750 miles in a day
• Must be capable of working days and/or overnight shifts
• Practical knowledge and use of hand and power tools
• Must provide personal tools, i.e. tape measure, box blade, screwdriver, drills, saws, etc (full tool list will be provided)
• Ability to climb ladders
• Ability to perform daily essential physical functions of lifting up to 60 pounds
• Must maintain a clean, safe, and jobsite-appropriate appearance in alignment with company standards
• Must be able to conduct yourself in a professional manner
• Capable of interacting with general public
• Ability to complete general paperwork
• Commercial construction experience preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively on the jobsite to support safety, coordination, and quality execution; bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly valued
