Job summary

Actalent seeks a Traveling Construction Materials Technician to join a national field-testing team based in Springfield, MO. Expect 60-hour weeks with 3 weeks on/1 off travel across the Midwest, testing soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.

A company truck, gas card, and per diem support field work on high-profile sites. Requirements include 6 months in materials testing, a high school diploma, and ACI certification within 90 days of hire; NICET is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field tests, observations, and inspections of construction materials.

• Assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians.

Job Title: Traveling Construction Materials Technician

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated Construction Material Technicians to join our national traveling technician team! The successful candidate will be responsible for performing field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. This position will be based out of Springfield, MO and requires 100% travel, with rotating schedules of 3 weeks on, one week off. Individuals can expect to work 60 hours per week consistently on large high-profile sites across Midwest: Southern MO, Northwest AR, Tulsa area.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field tests, observations, and inspections of construction materials.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor representatives, and other relevant parties regarding construction site activities, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection results.
• Transport material samples, along with associated documentation, to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
• Compile, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal.
• Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
• Assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites as needed.
• Adhere to strict safety standards at all times.

• Valid drivers license with acceptable violation history.

Work Environment

Individuals will be supporting high-profile construction projects across the Midwest, consistently working 60-hour weeks. Must be comfortable working in heat and various outdoor conditions. Technicians will receive a company truck for travel, gas card, and appropriate PPE. A per diem is provided at the GSA travel rate for 7 days a week.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
