Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Traveling Construction Materials Technician to perform sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt. The role requires outdoor work and lifting up to 75 pounds, with extensive field documentation and collaboration with project teams.

You will work with lead technicians, potentially mentor junior staff, and gain access to training and industry certifications based on experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of construction materials testing experience.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving history.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear documentation of field activities entered daily in electronic format.
• Work with project team and lead technicians to ensure project specifications are followed.

Job Title: Traveling Construction Materials Technician

Job Description

The successful candidate will effectively communicate with project personnel, materials technicians, clients, and contractor representatives regarding construction activities, project requirements, testing, observation, and inspection needs and results. The technician will transport samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis and prepare and submit electronic daily test and observation reports. This role offers in-depth technical training and industry certifications based on experience and skill level. • MnDOT or ICC certifications are a plus.

Work Environment

This role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Candidates should be prepared for physical activity, including lifting 50 to 75 pounds. The position may require extended or nontraditional hours. The work environment is dynamic, offering exposure to a variety of construction projects and materials testing technologies, including nuclear density gauges and quality control inspections.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $60000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
