Traveling Construction Manager — Industrial Projects

Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a Construction Manager to supervise site operations for industrial food and beverage facilities. You will coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules and budgets, and ensure site safety across field and office activities.

This client-facing role requires travel up to 100% across the USA (and possibly Canada), strong communication, and a solid read of drawings and specs. On-site 10-on/4-off schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree strongly preferred in construction science, building science, construction engineering or a related field.
• Design-build experience over industrial projects (strongly preferred).
• Overseeing sub-contractors and driving the project schedule.
• Client interaction experience - strong technical, organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
• Progressively responsible job site experience working on industrial building projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and budgets.
• Meet travel requirement – Up to 100% travel to projects throughout the USA and possible Canada.
• Work Schedule requirement – Work 10 days onsite, 4 days off.

Responsibilities

• Daily supervision of construction activities including coordination of subcontractors and site safety programs.
• Oversight / supervision of any assigned field engineers or Jr Construction Managers when directed.
• Works autonomously on overseeing medium-sized projects.
• Developing and updating project scope, budget, and schedule with project management.
• Project accounting, budgeting, and cost management.
• Maintaining site safety procedures with our safety team.
• Overseeing process, mechanical and utility equipment installations.
• Permitting, code and regulatory administration and approval.
• Change order and general construction administration.
• Coordination of field engineering and inspection coordination.
• Managing third party testing, inspection, and relationships.
• Preparing and maintaining project reports and logs.
• Work with sub-contractors to ensure schedule compliance and determine alternatives/resources.
• Review and maintain submittals, RFIs, Change orders.
• Work with Project Controllers and Project Manager in responsibilities involving supplier invoices and client billing.
• Perform engineering calculations and assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications.
• Managing project punch-list inspection and project close-out activities.
• Provide coaching/mentoring to junior staff when directed by supervisor.
• Promote continuous and productive communication between project participants.
