Job description

Summary:

The Construction Labor is responsible for performing various tasks and general labor functions at construction sites in a safe and efficient manner for project sites locally and/or nationwide. The primary role of the crew member is to assist the superintendent and other team members in the installation or fabrication of agricultural building systems. This includes work on agricultural buildings, site work, concrete, masonry, metals, wood, plastics, thermal and moisture protection, doors, windows, finishes, specialties, equipment, furnishings, and specialized construction tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the installation or fabrication of agricultural building systems.
  2. Follow CCS' safety culture, including the use of hardhats, safety glasses, ear plugs, dust masks, reflective clothing, and harnesses.
  3. Ensure overall safety on the job site daily.
  4. Perform tasks safely and only attempt tasks with proper training.
  5. Know the locations of the first aid kit, fire extinguisher, MSDS, and emergency information.
  6. Attend and participate in all required safety trainings.
  7. Use, maintain, and inspect safety and personal protective equipment prior to use.
  8. Keep the project site clean and maintain a professional appearance daily.
  9. Maintain equipment and tools in good condition, with safety guards and features in place, and complete safety inspections as required.
  10. Be flexible with working hours, which may change due to scheduling and weather conditions.
  11. Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  12. Perform duties professionally, including appearance and behavior.
  13. Load and unload materials and equipment.
  14. Operate and tend machinery and heavy equipment.
  15. Follow instructions from the Superintendent and implement construction plans.
  16. Assist skilled tradespeople in their duties.
  17. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Experience:

At least 1 year of construction experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Construction tools and equipment used across various trades.
  • The general construction industry and subcontractor trades.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and multitasking.

Ability to:

  • Follow directions accurately and within deadlines.
  • Handle physical and demanding tasks with mechanical aptitude.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems proactively.
  • Manage multiple tasks while paying attention to detail.
  • Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Establish good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Travel frequently, up to 75%.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of a job site in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, muddy, slippery, and wet conditions.
  • Exposure to typical construction site hazards.

Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug test prior to starting.
