Overview

As a Geohazard Mitigation Technician working for GSI, there is no typical day and the scenery changes often. You will work outdoors in various climates, performing tasks such as measuring, drilling, mixing concrete, and creating sustainable infrastructure. Who is GeoStabilization International?

GeoStabilization International (GSI) develops and installs innovative solutions to protect people and infrastructure from geohazards. We specialize in emergency landslide repairs, rockfall mitigation, and grouting using advanced design/build and warranty contracting. GSI is a leading firm in geohazard mitigation and bridge rehabilitation across the US, Canada, and Australia, leveraging proprietary tools and global partnerships to solve slope stability and foundation issues in diverse geologic settings.

Responsibilities

  1. Mix, spray, operate hoses, and run shotcrete or grouting pumps
  2. Move materials on construction sites
  3. Read and interpret measurements
  4. Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  5. Collaborate effectively within a team
  6. Learn to operate rock drills
  7. Operate construction equipment such as excavators, all-terrain forklifts, man lifts, skid steers, and front-end loaders

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in soil stabilization, grouting, or foundation mitigation
  • OR prior construction experience as a carpenter or framer
  • OR concrete experience as a finisher, form builder, or shotcrete technician
  • OR significant outdoor work experience in a physical, collaborative environment

Additional requirements:

  • Comfort with heights
  • Ability to travel at least 3 weeks per month
  • Reliability and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work enthusiastically with diverse teams

Additional Qualifications

  • Possession of a CDL Class A license or a clean Motor Vehicle Record

Work Environment

  • Varied climates from tropical to desert
  • Moderate noise levels with frequent hearing protection use
  • Exposure to typical construction site hazards
  • Heavy lifting (50 lbs+) of materials

Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Pay: $20-$23/hr; with overtime, equivalent to over $27/hr in 2023.

Travel: 100% travel within the Eastern US (east of the Mississippi River). Schedule: 3 weeks on, 1 week off.
