Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Security Service Technician in Charlotte, NC to independently service, troubleshoot, repair and maintain intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV and other low-voltage systems.

You will read blueprints and diagrams, use hand tools and testing equipment, and document work orders as you travel to client sites across the Southeast. The role requires strong technical skills and the ability to work without direct supervision.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• Able to travel up to 4 nights a week across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• Strong technical proficiency with access control, IP cameras, intrusion panels, fire alarms, intercoms, gates and basic networking.
• Ability to work independently and complete standard service jobs without direct supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform service, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work efficiently and safely.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
• Travel to job sites as required.
