AIR Control Concepts is seeking an Experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our traveling team. Based in Charlotte, NC, you will service mission-critical data centers across the U.S., performing startup, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of complex HVAC systems.

You will work with local operating companies to support regional clients when home. You will travel nationwide, receive travel stipends, premium benefits, and potential sign-on bonus based on experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience on chillers, hydronic systems, VRF, RTUs, or mission-critical cooling systems.
• EPA Universal Certification is required; OEM training/certifications preferred.
• Strong diagnostics, troubleshooting, and ability to read service manuals/schematics.
• Excellent communication and customer service orientation.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; pass background check and drug screening.

Based in Charlotte NC, you’ll join the Air National Services team as an Experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician. You’ll work on high-profile data center projects across the U.S., handling startup, commissioning, and service of complex HVAC systems. When you’re home, you’ll partner with one of our local operating companies to support regional commercial clients across that region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To succeed in this role, you will need your own vehicle. Air National Service team will not be providing a work vehicle. Service Technicians must demonstrate startup, commissioning, and diagnostic troubleshooting experience.

Core Responsibilities Include

• Service, Troubleshooting & Optimization – Diagnose and resolve issues on a variety of commercial HVAC systems. Perform preventative maintenance and fine-tune system performance for energy efficiency and reliability.
• Customer Relationship Management – Build and maintain strong client relationships by addressing service concerns, recommending improvements, and delivering high-quality communication and support.
• Communication & Documentation – Coordinate with internal teams to ensure efficient scheduling and follow-up. Accurately complete service reports, work orders, and related documentation in a timely manner.
• Training & Mentorship – Stay up to date through ongoing technical training. Serve as a resource and occasional mentor to junior technicians in the field.
• Safety & Compliance – Follow all safety guidelines and regulatory requirements as outlined by OSHA, the company, and customer sites.
• Emergency Response – Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for urgent service needs.
• Other Duties as Assigned – Contribute to the team and company by stepping in where needed.

Additional Role Highlights

• Travel will be required nationwide. When not on the road, technicians will work with the local operating company in their region.

Experience & Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience with systems such as chillers, hydronic systems, VRF, RTUs, packaged equipment or mission-critical cooling systems preferred.
• EPA Universal Certification required; OEM-specific training or certifications preferred.
• Skilled in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and interpreting service manuals and schematics.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with a professional, team-focused mindset.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; able to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in various field conditions, including rooftops and tight spaces.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

• This role is primarily field-based and physically active. HVAC Service Technicians can expect to spend the majority of their time on their feet, walking, standing, climbing ladders, bending, crouching, or working in tight and confined spaces. Extended periods of physical activity are common while diagnosing and repairing equipment at customer job sites.
• While a small portion of time (approximately 15%) may be spent in an office setting completing reports or administrative tasks at a computer, most responsibilities require hands‑on work with tools and equipment. Technicians must regularly lift and move items up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, sometimes in challenging environments.
• Clear and effective communication with customers, coworkers, and supervisors is essential, both in person and electronically. Individuals must also be capable of reviewing their work for accuracy and making necessary adjustments in the field.
• This position involves frequent exposure to outdoor conditions and varying environments, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active construction sites. Noise levels may range from low to high depending on the job location.
