Job summary

Russell is a professional services firm delivering construction and development across the Midwest. We seek a Traveling Superintendent to supervise all phases of the construction project on-site, ensuring schedule adherence and safety compliance.

You will coordinate with project teams, manage on-site activities, and support estimation and shop drawing reviews while traveling to various project sites as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years commercial construction experience as superintendent.
• Computer experience required.
• Strong management and communication skills.
• Understanding of scheduling and cost control; ability to supervise large teams.
• Travel is required; valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate and supervise on-site trade activities during all project phases.
• Adhere to the project schedule and milestones.
• Communicate with project manager, architect, engineer and team to ensure compliance with drawings, specs and schedule.
• Monitor safety program and enforce corrective measures.
• Maintain positive client relationships.
• Attend project status and related meetings as required.
• Assist in estimating, review of subcontractor/material proposals, and master schedule development.
• Assist in review of shop drawings and turnover walkthroughs.

How You’ll Contribute

As a Traveling Superintendent, you will help us reach our strategic growth goals by supervising all phases of the construction project.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for scheduling, coordinating and supervising on-site trade employee activities during all phases of the construction project.
• Ability to adhere to the project schedule.
• Effectively communicate with the project manager, architect, engineer and other project team members to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications and schedule.
• Responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety program requirements and ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
• The ability to maintain positive client relationships is key.
• Attends and/or conducts project status and other related meetings as required and/or requested by project manager.
• Assisting in estimating, review of subcontractor and material proposals, development of the master schedule.
• Assisting in review of shop drawings for key materials and finalization of as-builts, turnover and walk throughs for equipment and material.

Requirements

This full time position requires a bachelors degree in engineering or construction management OR an equivalent combination of technical training and experience. Requires a minimum of 5 years commercial construction experience as superintendent. Computer experience required. Management and communication skills are essential. Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to supervise large groups essential. Government and large project experience preferred. Diverse project experience important. Travel is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License in good standing.
