Job summary

Fulcrum Construction seeks an energetic Traveling Construction Superintendent to join our nationwide commercial team. You will independently manage day-to-day on-site operations, lead field staff, and maintain communication with project managers and owners. Projects range from $1M to $10M with varied site work and open-store remodels.

Ideal candidates will have ground-up construction experience, strong leadership, and a proven safety record. Expect travel across California and the Western U.S.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of commercial construction experience, with 5+ years as superintendent on projects of Fulcrum's size.
• Experience with complex site work and ground-up construction.
• Proficient in plan reading and building regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents (plans, specs, soil reports, safety manuals).
• Proficient with typical construction software applications.
• Mastery of building processes and scheduling.
• OSHA-30 certification and First Aid/CPR.

Responsibilities

• Solely responsible for timely completion of the project in strict accordance with plans and codes.
• Manage on-site construction from start to punch-list completion.
• Direct all on-site personnel to meet contract documents and timelines.
• Develop and communicate 3-week look-ahead schedules from the master schedule.
• Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and ensure scope compliance.
• Coordinate Owner Change Orders and RFIs as applicable.
• Develop site logistics plan and lead safety orientation meetings.
• Review materials budgets and approve invoices for job costs.
• Document all site activity with daily reports.

Compensation: Salary negotiable, commensurate with experience; including truck allowance, gas card, annual bonus, and per diem.

Travel requirement: must be willing to travel extensively in California and the Western part of the US.

Fulcrum Construction is seeking an energetic. self-motivated Traveling Construction Superintendent to join our team. Fulcrum Construction is a nationwide commercial general contractor specializing in the retail sector. Projects assigned can vary in size from $1M to $10M, and may include site work, ground up store/facility construction, tenant improvements and open store remodels. Specific consideration will be given to candidates with ground-up construction and site work experience. The successful candidate will independently manage the day-to-day operations of the project in the field. He/she must provide steady leadership and strong direction to all field staff as well as maintain timely essential communication with project managers and owners to ensure the successful completion of onsite construction. The Superintendent is responsible for all onsite quality assurance, project safety and schedule implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Solely responsible for, and will be held accountable for, the timely completion of the project and ensuring that the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes.
• Manage all aspects of the on-site construction project from project start to punch-list completion.
• Manage all on-site personnel to ensure project is completed in sequence, per the contract documents/local codes and within projected timeline.
• Develop and communicate 3-week look ahead schedules based off master schedule.
Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
• Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate same to project team for resolution.
• Manage/lead all weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Be an integral part in the subcontracting process.
• Be an integral part in issuance of Owner Change Orders.
• Initiate / Submit RFIs – as applicable to field conditions.
• Develop a project site logistics plan and lead site orientation meetings with all workers to review.
• Review and understand materials budgets.
• Negotiate and execute POs for onsite trailers, storage containers, dumpsters, and other site needs.
• Approve invoices for specified job cost codes.
• Document and ensure quality control and safety standards.
• Track material deliveries and change orders.
• Develop, manage, and implement job specific safety programs and procedures.
• Coordinate jobsite meetings/visits with owners, subcontractors, and Fulcrum team members.
• Onsite leader of safety programs – including providing weekly toolbox talks
• Interpret, review, and approve all subcontractor submittals and shop drawings.
• Document all job site activity via daily reports.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 10 years or more of experience in commercial construction field, at least 5 of those years serving as the project superintendent in charge of running jobs the size and scope of Fulcrum's projects.
• Proven/previous experience on projects with complex site work and ground up construction.
• Proficient in plan reading, construction design and overall building regulations/laws.
• Ability to read, comprehend and process construction documents (plans, specifications, soil reports, safety manuals, etc.)
• Proficient with typical construction software applications.
• Mastery of building processes and best practices.
• Proficient in estimating and scheduling practices.
• OSHA-30 certification
• First Aid/CPR Certification.
