Job summary

Structural Technologies/VSL seeks a Traveling Construction Superintendent based in Dallas, TX, to lead field teams on large post-tensioned bridges and related structures. This role involves coordinating with Project Managers, ensuring site safety, and driving look-ahead planning and scheduling across projects.

Ideal candidates have heavy civil/bridge experience, ability to travel, read drawings, supervise managers, and communicate effectively with customers and crews.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent; a Bachelor's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field may be preferred.
• Experience in heavy civil and bridge construction, CIP & Precast Segmental Erection, Cable Stay installation and post-tensioning is a plus.
• Ability to travel and/or relocate to projects for extended durations.
• Experience running multiple projects simultaneously (size/complexity depending).
• Proven ability to manage field managers and oversee divisional field operations; hands-on work may be required.
• Ability to read, interpret and execute construction drawings and contract specifications; resolve discrepancies.
• Commitment to safety and reliability in operating principles.
• Proven experience producing look-ahead schedules and using construction documents.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, crews, and project teams.
• Intermediate computer and construction math skills.
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Managers and leaders to oversee projects.
• Lead safety culture and 24/7 safety commitment.
• Lead pre-project and pre-task planning with CM/PM teams and share details with field crews.
• Motivate and coordinate teams; assign work according to material and labor needs.
• Ensure crews operate tools and equipment safely and productively.
• Provide training and assistance to field managers and crews.
• Assist PMs in evaluating production rates and scheduling.
• Complete essential paperwork clearly and accurately.
• Interview and hire field employees as needed.
