Job summary

Pointer Smith Contracting Corporation seeks an experienced Ballast Regulator Operator to join our traveling track maintenance team. The role involves shaping and dressing ballast, ensuring proper track geometry and surface readiness across multiple sites, with extensive travel throughout the region.

The position requires working long hours, including nights and weekends as project schedules demand, and staying in company-provided lodging during work weeks.

Qualifications

• Experience operating ballast regulator or similar heavy railroad maintenance equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of track structure and ballast profiles during surfacing operations.
• Willingness to travel extensively and stay away from home for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate ballast regulator to shape and distribute ballast along the track profile.
• Coordinate with tamper operators, surfacing crews and foremen to maintain track geometry.
• Perform pre/post-shift inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
• Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout and on-track safety protocols.
• Travel to multiple job sites with lodging provided by the company.
