Job Description

The Traveling Aircraft Electrician Mechanic II performs avionics and electrical maintenance tasks, modifications, and repairs as directed.

  1. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
  2. Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  3. Performs various inspections, examines engines for malfunctions, inspects jet engine components for damage, and tests engine operation using specialized equipment.
  4. Replaces or repairs worn or damaged engine parts, removes engines for inspection, and reassembles and installs engines in aircraft.
  5. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories, performs maintenance inspections, and services aircraft as needed.
  6. Supervises aircraft jacking and towing, documents work performed, and may service engines and airframe components at line stations.
  7. May require FAA licensing, especially for engine repair work.
  8. Performs other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid up-to-date A&P license and relevant aviation maintenance experience, including specific experience with rotary wing aircraft and the Mission Design Series (UH60, AH64, CH47).
  • Ability to travel extensively, up to or more than 75% of the year.
  • Must obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; US citizenship required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience in inspecting and repairing various aircraft systems and components, with thorough knowledge of troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and familiarity with aircraft tools and technical publications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Effective communication skills in English, proficiency in typing for email and software communication.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and lead teams on complex tasks.
  • Experience in inspecting and maintaining aircraft, including logbook entries and using military technical publications.
  • FAA Powerplant license required when assigned to Engine Specialized Repair Activity.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects, working in noisy and dirty environments, and operating various equipment.
  • Must pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test.
Travel
  • May require travel to austere environments under harsh conditions.
