Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Telemetry Registered Nurse for a 13-week day shift assignment in California. CA RN licensure and Epic proficiency required; prior travel experience is essential.

The role features a 3x12-hour day schedule (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) with a 1:4 patient ratio across a 5-hospital system. Applicants must have 2+ years in telemetry, and current BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications, plus Epic or Cerner experience.

Qualifications

Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA).
Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
Minimum 2 years of concurrent telemetry experience required.
Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience within the last 6 months required.
Prior travel nursing experience required, including 6+ months of continuous recent travel assignments.
Community hospital experience required.
Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred.
1 supervisory-level professional reference required.
Valid copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration.

Responsibilities

Work in the Telemetry unit of a hospital setting.
Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
1:4 patient ratio.
May be required to float to like or lower acuity units across a 5-hospital system, at or below skillset.
Required to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week cycle.
Required to work at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend.
Uses Epic EMR.
Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including monitoring and management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response/code teams.
Experience with neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, and IV therapy conditions preferred.
Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and insulin protocols preferred.
No first-time travelers considered for this role.
Returning staff and travelers may reapply after a 1-year separation from the facility.
Maximum 7 days of RTO permitted, with no additional requests after consideration.
Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, except LVNs/MAs.
Candidates who have been on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months are considered local and are not eligible.
