Qualifications
  • Two years minimum of total surgical tech experience
  • One year minimum of experience within the last three years (specific jobs may require more)
  • An active credential by the NBSTA or NCCT (CST, CSFA, or TS-C will be required depending on job)
  • RN degree from an accredited registered nurse program

Role Responsibilities

Surgical techs are an integral part of a hospital's healthcare team, acting as a surgeon's right hand. They prepare surgical equipment and assist surgeons and surgical teams before, during, and after procedures. Responsibilities may include:

  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
  • Maintaining accurate reports and records
  • Providing individualized, non-judgemental, non-discriminatory care to all patients, families, and staff
Requirements to Apply

To apply as a surgical technologist with Nomad, you must:

  • Have an active certification from NBSTSA, NCCSA, or ABSA, or active first assistant certification
  • Have at least one year of experience as an Adult Cardiothoracic surgical tech or first assistant
  • Have evidence of recent experience within your specialty/modality within the past three years
  • Graduate from an accredited school within your discipline
  • Score 80% or higher on all Nomad Health competency exams

If not certified, you must have at least 10 years of surgical tech experience, but acceptance depends on each facility's policies.
