Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital setting in Sitka, Alaska. The role requires CST and BLS certifications and at least 1 year of experience.

The position features a day shift Tuesday–Friday, 10 hours per day, with on-call responsibilities and opportunity to work with experienced surgical teams. Housing/transportation are not provided.

Qualifications

• Active state license required if applicable.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and surgical instrumentation.
• Skilled in sterile technique, processing, and patient positioning.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of advanced and complex surgical procedures.
• Day shift Tuesday through Friday, 10 hours per day.
• Requires on-call/call-back availability, including back-up call for emergencies.
• Scrub in under professional nurse supervision.
• Anticipate surgeon preferences for instruments and materials.
• Set up sterile tables with instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications.
• Disassemble, clean, and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Monitor and maintain sterility of supplies and instruments.
• Track and order department supplies as needed.
• Contribute to educational programs and learning aids for surgical staff.
• Provide input on policies, procedures, and patient care standards.
• Participate in assigned committees as needed.
• Start date no less than 6 weeks after fingerprints processed.
• Housing and transportation not provided.
