Job summary

Talent4Health is seeking a Surgical Technician (Travel) for a 13-week assignment in Illinois with 40 hours per week. The role involves intraoperative support as a first/second scrub or assistant under RN supervision, ensuring sterile technique and safe patient care.

The candidate should have 1+ year of surgical tech experience, strong knowledge of anatomy and perioperative care, and be able to scrub independently. On-call availability is required and travel will be involved.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Surgical Technician experience.
• Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
• Understanding of sterile technique, asepsis, surgical procedures, and surgical patient care.
• Knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of perioperative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Apply aseptic principles and maintain a sterile surgical environment.
• Perform surgical technician duties using appropriate technical skills, judgment, and clinical knowledge.
• Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Organize and coordinate surgical supplies and equipment.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff while following hospital safety and legal requirements.
• Charge for equipment and supplies as required.
• Assist with operating room setup and turnover.
• Clean and maintain equipment and report items requiring repair.
• Perform sterilization and disinfection procedures and document sterilization loads according to policy.
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to support efficient surgical procedures.
