Qualifications

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist status.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Active state licensure required (license required if applicable).
• Working knowledge of AORN standards.
• Basic computer skills to complete online learning and documentation requirements.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Hospital operating room setting.
• 3x12 day shift schedule.
• 13-week assignment.
• Assists during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation to the surgical team.
• Functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Monitors sterile field for contamination risks and notifies team of needed corrective action.
• Participates in Time Out Process including Briefings and Debriefings.
• Assists with patient transport, room turnover, and room preparation.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Maintains currency in new surgical technologies, instrumentation, and equipment.
• Role models professional behavior and principles of a Just Culture.
• Must be HIPAA compliant.
