Job summary

Scott Humphrey Corporation seeks an experienced Traveling Lead Daytime Superintendent to oversee active-store remodels for Walmart projects nationwide. The role focuses on daytime field operations, coordinating subcontractors and store personnel, and maintaining schedules while stores remain open.

Travel is extensive and required to support multiple locations. The position demands strong leadership, safety discipline, and the ability to coordinate with Walmart representatives and project teams

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial or retail construction experience, incl. 3+ years as Lead Superintendent.
• Direct experience managing Walmart remodel projects in active stores.
• Experience leading subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades.
• Ability to coordinate daytime work with nighttime field operations.
• Solid understanding of Walmart construction standards, scheduling, and turnover.
• Willingness to travel extensively for multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead daytime field operations on Walmart remodels from mobilization to turnover.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain schedules.
• Serve as primary daytime contact for Walmart reps, store mgmt, and project team.
• Coordinate work around active store operations and traffic flow.
• Oversee phased remodels incl. demolition, interiors, finishes, MEP changes.
• Align with nighttime crews for smooth shift transitions and reporting.
• Maintain daily reports, look-ahead schedules, and site documentation.
• Resolve field conflicts and site conditions to minimize disruptions.
• Enforce OSHA, safety procedures, and Walmart standards.

Job description

We are partnered with an established general contractor specializing in large-scale retail construction, remodels, and renovations nationwide. With a strong portfolio of Walmart and Sam's Club projects, the company is seeking an experienced Traveling Lead Daytime Superintendent to oversee active-store remodels.

The Lead Superintendent will be responsible for managing daytime field operations, coordinating subcontractors and store personnel, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring remodels are completed safely and efficiently while stores remain operational.

Role and Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations on Walmart remodel projects, overseeing construction activities from mobilization through final turnover.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain production schedules and project milestones.
• Serve as the primary daytime field contact for Walmart construction representatives, store management, and project management teams.
• Coordinate construction activities around active store operations, customer traffic, employee access, deliveries, and merchandise movement.
• Oversee phased remodel work, including demolition, interior renovations, fixture modifications, flooring, ceilings, finishes, and associated MEP improvements.
• Coordinate with nighttime superintendents and crews to ensure smooth shift transitions, accurate progress reporting, and continuity of work.
• Maintain daily reports, look-ahead schedules, subcontractor coordination, inspections, and project documentation.
• Identify and resolve field conflicts, scheduling issues, and unforeseen site conditions to minimize disruptions.
• Enforce OSHA requirements, site-specific safety procedures, and Walmart construction standards.
• Manage punch lists, final inspections, quality control, and project closeout.

Projects & Scope

• Walmart Supercenter and Neighborhood Market remodels.
• Sam's Club renovations and improvements.
• Open-store remodels with ongoing customer and employee operations.
• Fast-track retail renovation schedules with phased construction and coordinated daytime/nighttime activities.
• Interior demolition, flooring, ceilings, millwork, fixtures, storefront improvements, and MEP modifications.

Qualifications and Experience

• Required: 5+ years of commercial or retail construction experience, including at least 3 years in a Lead Superintendent capacity.
• Direct experience managing Walmart remodel projects, preferably within active, operating stores.
• Experience leading subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades in fast-paced retail renovation environments.
• Ability to manage daytime construction activities while coordinating with nighttime field operations.
• Strong understanding of Walmart construction standards, scheduling expectations, site safety, and turnover requirements.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively for assigned projects.
• Experience with Walmart's GRO remodel program.

• Nationwide Travel | Day Shift
• This is a traveling field leadership position supporting Walmart remodel projects across multiple locations.
• Candidates must be comfortable with extended assignments away from home.
