Job summary

Mural Group Industrial is hiring Structural Stick Welders for a travel contract at a major steel manufacturing facility in Apple Grove, West Virginia. The project is expected to run 3 or more months with real potential to extend well beyond that. Per diem applies.

This is a start-now opportunity. You will join a crew of 16 welders on four silos, performing exterior stiffeners and interior rib removal. Work is primarily flat-vertical with some lifts, and inspection includes magnetic particle

Qualifications

• Active stick welding (SMAW) experience required; MIG-only or TIG-only welders will not be considered.
• Structural carbon steel plate welding background for stiffeners, gussets, fabrication plate, or similar structural applications; pipe experience not a substitute.
• Intermittent weld technique and rationale for not using continuous welds on structural plate work.
• 3G vertical position comfort is essential as this is the dominant working position on this project.
• Electrode knowledge: E7018, E6010, and/or E6011 are standard rods for this work.
• Ability to work on aerial lifts at heights above 6 feet.
• Willingness to travel and commit to 3+ months; per diem applies for a national travel pool.
• Must pass a 7-year background check and urine and hair drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Weld four large square structural steel silos on-site.
• Weld external L-profile stiffeners and remove internal ribs per phase.
• Total welding scope across four silos is ~1,854 feet; base material ASTM A572 Grade 60, 3/8–7/16 inch thick.
• Primary working position is flat-vertical; no overhead welding required.
• Operate aerial lifts; some work above 6 feet.
• Welding inspection conducted by magnetic particle testing.
