Responsibilities

• Administer treatments, monitor patient progress, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide care for cardiac and telemetry patients, including post-op open heart patients.
• Support chest tube management, blood product administration, cardioversion and defibrillation as needed.
• Interpret dysrhythmias and participate in post-operative care per unit protocol.

Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized care to patients transitioning from intensive care to less acute settings. The RN will administer treatments, monitor patient progress, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal recovery outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Starting date is 10/05/2026 and ending on 01/04/2027.
• Required Qualifications: Valid state license with a compact license in hand at submission, at least 2 years of experience in Step Down or Telemetry units, including surgical tele or open heart surgery experience, vascular procedures, IV skills, and NIHSS certification. Certifications required include ACLS and BLS. Epic electronic health record experience is mandatory.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with vascular (groin) radials, VAD, TAVR procedures, and managing complex cardiac patients including post-op open heart surgery.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The role involves managing various cardiac and telemetry patients, including those with myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, stroke, and structural heart support like VAD and TAVR. Responsibilities include chest tube management, blood product administration, cardioversion, defibrillation, dysrhythmia interpretation, and post-operative care for open heart patients within the first 1-5 days. Candidates will work in a unit with a patient ratio of 1:4 (possibly 1:5 at midnight), with support from IV teams, respiratory services, and other interdisciplinary providers.

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
