Job summary

American Traveler seeks an Inpatient Speech-Language Pathologist for a Rehab unit in Kansas. Requires 1+ year of experience and a Kansas SLP license; first-time travelers welcome.

The role includes a day shift (4x10 hours, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM), Epic charting, potential float to related units, and responsibilities across dysphagia management, voice and communication disorders, and bedside swallow studies.

Qualifications

• Valid Kansas SLP license required in hand at time of submission (license required if applicable)
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of experience as an SLP required
• Experience with dysphagia management, bedside swallow evaluations, and modified barium swallow studies
• Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication devices
• Knowledge of standardized evaluation tools such as WAB, CELF, PICA, and BIMS/CPS for SNF settings
• National certification not required

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Rehab unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Adult patient population with dysphagia, voice, and communication disorders
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Epic charting system experience required
• May be required to float to like units within scope based on facility needs
• Provide evaluation, treatment, and management of dysphagia, voice, and communication disorders
• Conduct bedside swallow evaluations and modified barium swallow studies
• Utilize adaptive equipment such as communication boards, memory aids, and Passy Muir valves for trach/vent patients
• Perform patient and family education on therapy goals and techniques
• Complete documentation including assessments, evaluations, and discharge summaries
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff must have a 1-year gap before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
