American Traveler Staffing Professionals is seeking a Tele/Stepdown RN for a busy Level 1 trauma Emergency Department in Missouri. Requires at least 1 year of Tele, Stepdown, or ED experience and an active Missouri license. EPAI; BLS/ACLS/PALS mandatory; TNCC/ NIHSS required; trauma/high-acuity experience preferred.

Unit uses EPIC EMR; patient ratios commonly 4:1; no required on-call; weekend shifts may apply; facility accepts local candidates with rate adjustments within 50 miles.

Description

American Traveler is hiring a Tele/Stepdown RN for a busy Level 1 trauma Emergency Department, requiring at least 1 year of Tele, Stepdown, or ED experience and a Missouri or compact RN license.

Details

• Emergency Department setting in a 68-bed unit at a Level 1 trauma, stroke, and burn center
• Weekend hours as required by facility
• No on-call requirements
• No floating requirements
• Patient ratios typically 4:1, subject to change during surge conditions
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• High-acuity trauma, stroke, STEMI, and burn patient population
• Facility sees 200+ patients per day

Requirements

• Active RN license valid in Missouri or compact license
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from AHA required
• TNCC and NIHSS certification required (may obtain NIHSS prior to start if not already held)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Tele, Stepdown, or ED (Level 3, Level 4, or critical access)
• Trauma or high-acuity experience preferred, including pediatric trauma exposure
• No gaps in employment exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs not accepted

Additional Information

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care across all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
• Maintains professional accountability and evaluates care provided by other caregivers
• Works within scope of practice consistent with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility mission and values
• Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, pushing/pulling/lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasional kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Black scrubs required; jeans and unprofessional attire not permitted
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
• RTO must be made up during the assignment and cannot be requested during the first week
• Only one holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
• Local candidates may be considered, though bill rate is reduced for those within 50 miles of the facility
• Local candidates are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the local radius
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
