Responsibilities

• 13-week assignment with Every Other Weekend/Holiday (EO W/EOH) scheduling.
• Floating to a sister site (26-bed inpatient unit) as needed.
• Use Epic for charting and adhere to unit protocols.
• Maintain crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavior management.
• Comply with seclusion protocols and required orientation exams.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for an Emergency Psych night shift position requiring MA licensure and prior psych experience.

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required
• BLS certification required; CPI certification preferred
• 1-2 years of recent psychiatric nursing experience required
• Previous Emergency Mental Health experience highly preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Comfortable with de-escalation techniques, restraint protocols, and administration of psychiatric medications
• Experience with antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, and mood stabilizer medications
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Two professional references required, one from a Nurse Manager or higher

Responsibilities

• Work in an Emergency Psych setting within a Behavioral Health unit
• Night shift, 5x8 hours, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 13-week assignment
• Every other weekend/holiday (EOW/EOH) required
• May require additional weekend shifts depending on RTO scheduling
• Floating required to a sister site, a 26-bed inpatient unit
• Uses Epic for charting
• Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days
• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care in an emergency behavioral health setting
• Manage patients with conditions including anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, PTSD, substance use, and suicidal behavior
• Apply crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavior management techniques
• Utilize seclusion protocols and physical hold procedures as needed
• Complete a Pass/Fail EKG competency test and a Pass/Fail Medication exam during orientation
• Psych RNs are exempt from RN Tele testing
• Complete required modules pre-start, during orientation, and annually
• Accepts local candidates at the same bill rate within a 200-mile radius
• Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
• Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed in the first week
