Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit travel assignment in Virginia. Requires 1 year of PCU/Telemetry nursing experience and a VA or Compact RN license.

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory. The role focuses on acute care for adults with cardiac and other conditions in a 255-bed facility. The position offers a 3x12 day shift (6:45am-7:15pm), weekend coverage every other Saturday with Sundays off, and a comprehensive travel

Qualifications

• Active RN license (VA or Compact)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year PCU/Telemetry nursing experience
• Skills in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• No prior travel experience required with qualifying PCU experience

Responsibilities

• Work in the PCU/Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital
• Care for acutely ill adult patients with cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary, and other medical conditions
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:45am-7:15pm)
• Weekend requirement of every other Saturday with Sundays off
• Meditech charting system used; experience preferred but not required
• Coordinate direct patient care and provide patient education on a busy PCU/Tele unit
• Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Free parking available in any unrestricted space
• Fit testing required; clean-shaven or provide exemption letter prior to start
• Zero-tolerance drug policy; medical marijuana cards not accepted
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• No eligible return-to-work candidates who previously worked a permanent role here in last 24 months
• RTO expectations scale with holidays during assignment period
• First-time travelers welcome with qualifying experience
