Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PACU for Washington, DC, to work 40 hours weekly in a Main PACU with ICU-level care. Expect 3x12 hour day shifts, on-call duties, and travel compensation across a Level I trauma center.

Requirements include minimum 2 years ICU experience, PACU/Preop, NLN-approved RN program, BLS/ACLS/PALS, CPI, and US SSN. Benefits include day-one insurance, stipends, and licensure reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience in a U.S. hospital.
• Recent PACU and Preop experience; not surgicenter.
• Graduate of accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA) certifications.
• CPI certification mandated.
• Two professional references preferred, with at least one from the most recent employer.
• US Social Security Number required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Main PACU of a hospital setting.
• Care for post-operative patients in a Level I trauma center environment.
• Requires ICU-level care experience; PACU experience preferred, Preop experience a plus.
• 3x12 hour day shifts with various start times between 0700 and 1130.
• On-call is required.
• Monitor post-operative patients' recovery and consciousness from anesthesia.
• Obtain and document patient vital signs and observe for anesthesia side effects.
• Treat pain, nausea, and other post-op symptoms, administering medications as prescribed.
• Update EMR, patient files, and medical records accurately.
• Educate patients and families on post-surgery care and answer their questions.
