Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN for a night shift role requiring Level 1 Trauma experience and Epic charting proficiency.

The float pool will cover various Med/Surg units including Oncology, Orthopedic, Advanced Care, and ICU where applicable. Night shifts run 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three shifts per week (36 hours). Additional rotations include every other weekend and every other holiday; no on-call is required. Epic EMR is used to coordinate care and preceptor duties may arise.

Qualifications

• Must hold active Illinois RN license in good standing (temp license accepted).
• Minimum one year of nursing experience in Med/Surg/related areas.
• Level 1 Trauma center experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Float pool position covering Med/Surg units (Oncology, Orthopedic, Advanced Care, ICU where applicable).
• Night shift 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week).
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses Epic EMR system.
• Provides direct patient care across inpatient units, completing assessments, care plans, and nursing interventions.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate high-quality patient care.
• May precept staff from various units as needed.
• Responsible for patient and staff safety reporting and hazard correction.
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted.
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract.
• Prior contingent workers may not exceed 1 year of continuous assignment without a required 6-month break in service before returning.
