Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Springfield, MA. The role involves maternal and fetal assessment, administering obstetric care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have one year of L&D RN experience, a valid RN license, and current BLS; additional certifications such as NRP, ACLS, and AWHONN fetal monitoring are preferred.

Qualifications

• One year’s recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• NRP Certification

Responsibilities

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in obstetric nursing techniques
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during labor, delivery, and patient examination
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including mother and newborn assessment and stabilization
• Educate patients on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
• Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence-based protocols
• Document patient care and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
• Comply with regulatory standards for obstetric nursing care
• Perform other duties within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
