Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Modesto, California. You will provide obstetric care, monitor fetal status, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe childbirth and postpartum care.

The role requires 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, active RN license in CA, BLS and NRP certifications, with a 13-week travel assignment and 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts.

Qualifications

• One year of recent Labor and Delivery RN experience
• RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

Responsibilities

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per obstetric nursing protocols
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during labor, delivery and examinations
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including mother and newborn assessment and stabilization
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding and newborn care
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists and team members for cohesive care
• Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence-based protocols
• Document care in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies
• Perform other duties as assigned within labor and delivery scope
